Over the last decade we have seen social media transform how information can be distributed and disseminated amongst groups and individuals. The shift has seen immense positive effects, bringing information closer to the people in a more efficient manner but has not been without its critics. As social media companies are still very much at their infancy with regards to their societal roles, we are currently seeing the first real regulatory thoughts to the challenges that social media platforms have brought, specifically with hate speech and disinformation campaigns that have increased tenfold over the last few years.

ECLA and EU Watch, joined by Respect Zone, are organising a panel discussion on the policy initiatives and implications that are currently being discussed at the EU level.
